In 1948, Kunhua Library and Zhizhou Library merged and retained the name Yunnan Provincial Kunhua Library. In 1953, it was officially renamed the Yunnan Provincial Library. The library was officially opened to the public in 2004.ShareAccording to the library’s official website in November 2018, the Yunnan Provincial Library has a building area of 32,600 square meters, with 18 reading rooms and 14 administrative departments, employing 199 staff members. By the end of June 2017, the library’s collection consisted of 3.39 million volumes (items) of general literature and 5.02 million electronic documents, including 595,600 volumes of ancient books and 80,000 volumes of local ethnic literature. Additionally, 130 ancient books have been included in the "Catalogue of National Rare Ancient Books."
